fb_austin_artVery proud to announce that our feature film screenplay FROM BEDSIDE has finished within the TOP 15% at the Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition.

Co-written by Mark Violi and Fred Goldstein, FROM BEDSIDE is the remarkable true story of a teacher and his student’s journey of hope and courage. The logline reads: Fred is a young teacher already jaded with the system and reconsidering his career choice. But when he agrees to tutor Steven, a teenager suffering from a rare form of bone cancer, they forge a unique bedside bond causing Fred to reevaluate his capabilities and reinvest himself in teaching. Based on the true story.

The screenplay is based on Goldstein’s book of the same name.

Begun in 1993, Austin Film Festival has grown into a respected, major industry event. From their website: “Austin Film Festival furthers the art and craft of filmmaking by inspiring and championing the work of screenwriters, filmmakers, and all artists who use the language of film and television to tell a story.” FROM BEDSIDE’s strong finish comes among a total of over 9,100 script entries–a new record for this competition.

We’re very excited for the attention and accolades FROM BEDSIDE continues to receive. The screenplay remains available for review and production. Mark and Fred are represented by Hazel Hoyle at Oxygen Films–Literary Division. (email: hhoyle(a)oxygenfilms.ca)
