This is a promotional video for the premiere of my drama Riding The Comet opening September 16, 2011, produced by Actors’ NET. It features me (the writer) and our director Kyla M. Donnelly giving preview commentary on the play.
We hope to follow this up with short comments from the cast about their take on the story and the characters they portray.
For Geeks
Here’s another video I edited in iMovie. As short and fairly simple a piece it is, I think it is a good example of what you can accomplish in iMovie if you take the time to familiarize yourself with some the more advanced features. I’m also impressed by the available audio adjustments. We shot this in an empty theater with a noisy air conditioner blowing, I think I got some good results limiting that distraction and cleaning the audio with just a few clicks—all within iMovie.
The video was shot with my Sanyo Xacti. This is a great Full HD, palm-sized digital camcorder. It is wonderfully compatible with the Mac and all audio/video/photos software for OSX. My only complaint about the camera is that it doesn’t have a separate audio input for a mic, but the built-in ranged mic option compensates for this to a large degree. For ease of use, I chose to shoot in standard definition but I’m regretting that now; the wider two-shots are okay but it gains considerable grain on those tighter crop shots which were added during the editing process.
